What’s included in a full transmission service — fluid change, inspection, parts check, or more?
So I’m trying to figure out what actually counts as a full transmission service. I took my car in last week because it was slipping a bit on cold mornings, and the guy at the shop told me I only needed a fluid swap. But my friend keeps saying a proper service should include checking the pan, filters, seals — basically a full inspection. Now I’m confused, because I don’t want to pay for stuff I don’t need, but I also don’t want to skip something important. What do you all usually get done in a full service?

From what I’ve seen, different shops mean different things when they say “full service.” When I had mine done a few months ago, they changed the fluid, checked for leaks, and looked over the mounts and lines. It wasn’t super expensive, but the extra inspection saved me later because they caught a worn gasket early. If you want a breakdown that’s pretty close to what most good shops offer, you can check out Transmission fluid leak https://www.vip-servicecenter.com/services/transmission-service — it lays out the basics without overhyping anything: LINK. Personally, I think the inspection part is worth it, especially if you’re already having symptoms like slipping.
